Their research is mainly centered on phonetics and includes acquisition of speech, speech perception, speech synthesis, and more.

The website provides basic information about the department such as faculty interests, degree requirements, and so forth. More interestingly, the site has a Web Tutorials menu, where visitors can find several online lectures about phonetics. IPA fonts, softwares, and many articles on phonetics are also downloadable.

This site will be useful for (prospective) graduate students who are interested in phonetics and speech technologies.

Discourse and Cognitive Linguistics Society of Korea

English Linguistics->General Studies of Linguistics->School or Organization
English Linguistics->Korean Linguistics->School or Organization

Established in 1991, the Discourse and Cognitive Linguistics Society of Korea is an academic organization which focuses on the discourse and cognitive linguistics. In 2005, it sponsored the 9th International Cognitive Linguistics Conference (ICLC) of the International Cognitive Linguistics Association (ICLA). Also, it was included in ICLA at that time. Now, it has four conferences and publishes three journals per year.

All the information on organizations can be accessed for free in this website. However, if the webpage is converted into English version, downloading paper is blocked. In fact, English website is not available at the moment although there is an icon which is linked to it. Therefore only people who read Korean or use Korean letters in computer can visit this homepage and use its resources. PDF files are provided, too. However, there are no search engine and topic tables which can improve users' efficiency. In other words, it is not so user-friendly. Furthermore, a large part of this homepage is not activated and there are few materials for past conferences or journals.

This homepage is good for advanced students who are interested in discourse and cognitive linguistics.

This site was lastly updated in 2006.
