The Linguistic Funland was created in 1994 as a list of various linguistics links on a personal homepage. Then a graduate student in linguistics, the author began to accumulate a list of resources that soon grew out of a single page and into this directory. On this site, you'll find resources for language teaching and learning (related to TESL, ESL, and TESOL), linguistics study, and other miscellaneous resources. It even provides scripts for educators and electronic journals. The author of this site, Kristina Pfaff, has a Bachelor of Science in applied science and technology and a Master's degree in linguistics. After working at the University of Nevada and the University of Minnesota, she now works as a CGI (Common Gateway Interface) programmer and systems administrator.
Because she has experience teaching Korean college-level students, there is precious information about teaching English for Korean students in this site. Also, the site provides a lot of link sites related to TESOL. You can get not only teaching skills but also information for related job opportunities.
However, this site lacks in-depth studies or important theses. Therefore, it will be useful for beginners who have interests in linguistics and English education in general.

English Linguistics->Applied Linguistics->School or Organization English Linguistics->Language Acquisition->School or Organization English Linguistics->Korean Linguistics->School or Organization
Founded in 1978, ALAK takes pride in its rapid development of studies in applied linguistics. It has grown remarkably both in diversity of membership and in efficient management. The Korean Journal of Applied Linguistics, the association's journal, was proudly certified on December 2004 by the Korean Research Foundation. In accordance with Association usage, it will continue to advertise all research activities, encourage members to attend international conferences of AILA, JACET and other associations, and invite scholars from abroad for co-research on a variety of topics in applied linguistics. It is directly linked to AILA, the International Association of Applied Linguistics, which is an international federation of national and regional association of applied linguistics.
Thus, the activity of ALAK is quite international and the participation of foreign scholars is higher than other similar organizations. You cannot get the whole papers of the organization although some feature articles are provided for free. Some personal columns which are mainly about English and American culture is accessible for anyone.
Because most resources are papers and theses, there are no explanations for basic terms or theories of applied linguistics. In other words, this homepage is good for advanced students who are interested in language acquisition. It is written in English.

English Linguistics->Korean Linguistics->School or Organization
The Linguistic Society of Korea (LSK) was founded in 1975. The society now has more than 2,000 members whose majors include syntax, semantics, phonetics, phonology, morphology, pragmatics, discourse analysis, lexicography, socio-linguistics, psycholinguistics, cognitive linguistics, linguistic philosophy, computational linguistics, historical linguistics, comparative linguistics, language and culture, language acquisition, language education, language policy, and so on.
The LSK has held a great number of international conferences as well as local ones. Whenever it held conferences, it introduced and spread new linguistic theories locally and internationally among the linguists. It holds local conferences three times a year: spring, summer, and winter. It held a huge international conference every five or six years from 1981 to 1997, and it holds small international conferences every two years from 2000.
You can freely download all papers which were presented. Although it provides an English website, paper downloading is only available in the Korean website.

English Linguistics->General Studies of Linguistics->School or Organization English Linguistics->Korean Linguistics->School or Organization
Established in 1991, the Discourse and Cognitive Linguistics Society of Korea is an academic organization which focuses on the discourse and cognitive linguistics. In 2005, it sponsored the 9th International Cognitive Linguistics Conference (ICLC) of the International Cognitive Linguistics Association (ICLA). Also, it was included in ICLA at that time. Now, it has four conferences and publishes three journals per year.
All the information on organizations can be accessed for free in this website. However, if the webpage is converted into English version, downloading paper is blocked. In fact, English website is not available at the moment although there is an icon which is linked to it. Therefore only people who read Korean or use Korean letters in computer can visit this homepage and use its resources. PDF files are provided, too. However, there are no search engine and topic tables which can improve users' efficiency. In other words, it is not so user-friendly. Furthermore, a large part of this homepage is not activated and there are few materials for past conferences or journals.
This homepage is good for advanced students who are interested in discourse and cognitive linguistics.

English Linguistics->Language Acquisition->School or Organization English Linguistics->Korean Linguistics->School or Organization
Established in 1981, the Korean Society of Bilingualism is an academic organization which focuses on bilingualism and its pedagogical implications. It has researched and applied relative theories of Bilingualism and played an important role to affect the Korean education of foreigners or overseas Koreans. It has introduced or suggested new theories which are written by Korean, English, Chinese, and so on. It sponsors two regional conferences (spring, autumn) and two international conferences biannually.
You can get all papers or theses which have presented to the organization for free in this homepage. However, it does not offer English website. Because of this, people who read Korean or use Korean letters in computer visit this homepage. In order to read the materials, you have to setup Hangul program. Because most foreigners do not use this program, it is somewhat impossible for foreigners to read the articles or give comments for them. There are no searching system or topic tables which can help users' work. Because of this, this homepage is not so user-friendly. Furthermore, it is generally not so activate.
This homepage is good for advanced students who are interested in bilingualism or language acquisition related to English.
