This website is dedicated to a group of seventeenth century poets including Ben Jonson, Robert Herrick, Edward Herbert, Thomas Carew, James Shirley, Mildmay Fane, Edmund Waller, Sir John Suckling, Richard Lovelace, Abraham Cowley and Henry Vaughan. They are classified as the cavalier poets because of their Royalist political sympathies. These cavalier poets share the same use of colloquial language and an easygoing attitude towards life. The site consists of quotes, biographies, works in online text and a number of critical essays on aforementioned authors as well as links to other useful sites. Besides, there are introductions of books related to some of the poets. This site, which is very well organized, is very useful to students interested in seventeenth century English literature.

The Philological Museum is an online library of humanistic texts published by the Shakespeare Institute at the University of Birmingham. There is a colossal number of letters, plays, poems and essays written by British humanists in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. The site features texts in Latin as well as in English. Accordingly, this web resource is of use to scholars who study original works and their translations. In addition to numerous online texts, the site contains a bibliography of neo-Latin texts available on the web with links. Moreover, this web provides a search engine for the entire site.

This web resource was collaboratively created by Thomas Luxton, associate professor of English at Dartmouth and his students. It has been developed since 1997. The site presents extensive electronic texts of John Milton (1608-1674). There are his Latin poems and prose works as well as his well-known poems. These texts include hypertext links to brief commentary or glossary. There is also a huge bibliography of Milton criticism. Some of the linked critical articles are available. In addition, there are numerous research links to Greek and Latin literature, bible commentary, religion and theology, as well as other Milton sites. The site has received a number of awards, including the Bess Award and the Swan Award.

In particular, the site offers biographical details on John Milton (1608-1674), one of the greatest influential English poets. He was a puritan and wrote to advocate the cause of the parliamentarians during the civil war. The site provides information on Milton¡¯s life and the political, social and religious scene of 17th century England, divided into seven sections: introduction, Milton¡¯s early years, Italy and the 1640s, civil war, Paradise Lost, Milton¡¯s reputation, and further references.

It offers an e-text of a collection of documents written by Spenser in his capacity as secretary in the Elizabethan administration of Ireland. Such archives interest those who study Elizabethan Irish history. Another manuscript of Spenser, ¡°A View of the Present State of Ireland¡± is also contained, including an introduction, textual notes, collaborative interpretive notes, and supplementary materials. Besides, his poetry and prose related to Irish political and literary context are provided, entitled ¡®Other Materials¡¯.
